The 10 x 13 booklet envelope opens on the long (13-inch) edge, giving you a wide side opening across the full 13-inch face for loading flat documents, full-size certificates, stacked report packets, and product catalogs without forcing. One inch wider and one inch taller than the standard 9 x 12, it produces a 9 3/4 x 12 1/4 inch interior that holds an 8.5 x 11 sheet flat with three quarters of an inch of clearance on each side rather than the tight quarter-inch margin of a 9 x 12. For thick document packets, full-size certificates that can't be folded, agreement copies, and legal-size materials with a single fold, this is the flat-document format that gives the contents room to load correctly. 24 lb bright white wove, rectangular gum flap, smooth wove finish, windowless face. Available blank or with custom logo and return address printing from Business Envelopes. Free shipping, no minimums.
The booklet format and the open end format are both 10 x 13 inches with the same 9.75 x 12.25 inch interior. The orientation is the only difference. The booklet format opens on the long (13-inch) edge: a wide side opening across the full 13-inch face, contents slide in horizontally. The open end format opens on the short (10-inch) edge: the flap runs across the 10-inch width at the top and documents drop in from above. Booklet is the more common default for manual loading where the wide side opening makes insertion easier. Open end is better for top-loading workflows and top-fed insertion equipment. Size, clearance, stock, and postage classification are identical.
Buyers searching "unfolded envelope" are looking for a format that lets documents arrive flat, without any crease from folding. The 10 x 13 is one of the primary formats for this: at 9.75 x 12.25 inches interior, it holds an 8.5 x 11 sheet completely flat with three quarters of an inch of clearance on all sides. Legal-size 8.5 x 14 documents fit with a single fold. Certificates, diplomas, and award documents that must arrive increased for framing or display load flat with room above them. Multiple pages of report copy, stapled or clipped together, fit without the stack compressing against the envelope walls and bowing the face.
The 10 x 13 booklet is a step up from the 9 x 12 for exactly this reason. The standard 9 x 12 gives a quarter inch of clearance. That's adequate for a single unfolded document. When the piece includes enclosures, thick supplemental pages, or anything that puts the contents against the walls of the envelope, the 9 x 12 shows it. The 10 x 13 doesn't. For organizations sending thick client packets, institutional correspondence with multiple enclosures, or documents where presentation on arrival matters, the extra clearance is the right specification.
